For Genetic Counselors

In Massachusetts, we are able to provide financial assistance for genetic testing for your patients who qualify. The Cancer Resource Foundation, Inc, provides free tests and financial assistance for tests. Testing is provided for those at high risk for breast cancer (BRCA1 and BRCA2 genes), ovarian cancer, colorectal cancer, pancreatic and prostate cancer or melanoma mutations. Additionally, genetic tests that determine the aggressiveness of some forms of cancer may also be provided.

How We Can Help

The Cancer Resource Foundation receives grant funding to provide this support to your patients. If your patient has health insurance but their insurance does not cover the test(s) you wish to order, and they meet both medical and financial guidelines, they may qualify for a free test. If their insurance covers the test but you are unable to pay the "out of pocket" costs, they may qualify for the MA Genetic Testing Co-Pay Assistance Program. The Cancer Resource Foundation can provide financial assistance up to $520.00 per test.
